Hey it's me

Hey There!

Not sure how to start this... I guess you could say I'm a California girl with a Hoosier heart and a Tennessee soul.

I've grown up knowing I was meant for more. Knowing that dreams matter. That they CAN be achieved. Granted, my biggest dream has nowhere near happened yet, but I'm realizing that isn't necessarily what matters since God likes to take me on a million detours. The day I graduated high school, I left for Colorado to work on a ranch, which ended up being one of the highlights of my life. I would have stayed there forever if God didn't specifically tell me to come back home.. He obviously had a plan, though, because I got an amazing job and met my husband right back in small town "Rensseltucky." We ended up in a whirlwind relationship a while later: Started dating Valentine's day, Engaged by April 15, Married June 21st of the same year. By the beginning of the next, we decided that we didn't want to stay in Indiana forever, and packed up and moved by March. That in itself was quite the adventure (that you can read about, kind of). Now residing in a cozy little East Tennessee town, my loving husband and I are trying to start a new life for ourselves while we pursue our dreams and set new goals. That is where this story begins.

As I mentioned, I'm married to a turdfaced sour patch kid- er, a wonderful man and my closest friend, Travis. We've been together for a few years now and I can honestly say that although I never had that giddy, rose-colored-glasses feeling, (and he gets on my nerves, like, daily) I love him now more than ever. Somehow he takes care of me and my emotions as best he can, and honestly puts up with A LOT of crazy. (I don't know how he does it!)

Running around in our small home are two adorable little fur babies:

Paisley Basil, a spunky little over-loving beagle mix, definitely keeps me on my toes. We adopted her when she was 6 months old, when fires in Gatlinburg destroyed her previous home. She wasn't house trained or very obedient, so it's been a long journey, but she's grown well and at the end of the day I'm excited to call her mine! (And I say mine specifically, 'cuz Travis acts like he hates her. He really doesn't though!)

Iclyn is Paisley's best friend. Not kidding. He was born in our guest room closet when my previous cat, Tilly Chai, escaped and got knocked up (see my December 2017 post). I would have found him a new home when he was younger, but he's seriously the sweetest thing and stole my heart.. and he thinks he's a dog, I swear.

I started this blog originally for two reasons:
(1) because I was moving and wanted to document our journey in a real way, and
(2) because I think too much and wanted to express myself through writing in hopes that my life and thoughts may help influence others in a positive way.

I'm not sure what more to say.. I love this life that we're building, and I thank God for it. You'll get to know me pretty well through what I write, since it comes straight from the heart, but don't let it stop there! I'd love to meet up for coffee some time (just kidding, hot chocolate. Coffee is gross) and get to know you also! Building friendships is what we're all here for after all, right?
With Love,
Selah

P.S.- I was born in Cali, am from Indiana, and call Tennessee home. In case y'all were wondering what that was all about!
